Chitty to seek Election to the Story County Board of Supervisors District 2 Seat

NEVADA, IA — Former Story County Supervisor and resident of rural Nevada, Iowa, Marty
Chitty, announced today that he will seek election as a Story County Supervisor to
represent Story County District 2 in the Republican Primary election to be held on June 2,
2026.

In announcing his bid for election, Chitty stated, “During my prior service as your Story
County Supervisor, I strived to work hard on behalf of all residents of Story County by
making common sense, logic-based decisions that strengthen Story County’s economy
and promote private sector job growth, while ensuring the funding necessary to meet our
County’s needs in areas of mental health, roads and bridges, and veterans services are
maintained. Going forward, it is critical that Story County continue to be recognized as
‘open for business’ by businesses and industries desiring to locate or expand their
workforce in Story County. I look forward to serving the rural communities, farmers and
rural residents throughout Story County District 2 when elected as the Republican nominee
for Story County Supervisor District 2 on June 2, 2026.”

Chitty then stated, “Having grown up on farm near Nevada, Iowa, I’m proud to be a lifelong
resident of Story County. Throughout my service as a member of the Nevada School Board,
as well as having served for 13 years as School Board President, I know first-hand the
challenges facing rural students and families as well, and I look forward to building
collaborations where possible between the County Government and our local school
districts.”

Chitty further stated, “During my prior service as a Story County Supervisor, I was the only
rural resident on the Story County Board of Supervisors. I know first-hand the need to have
quality roads and bridges in rural Story County and will continue to advocate for
infrastructure improvements in our rural areas. With the new Story County District 2, I am
looking forward to advocating for our rural communities throughout Story County as well as
our farmers and rural residents. I am committed to being the voice of all residents on the
Story County Board of Supervisors going forward by continuing to listen to your thoughts
and concerns while sharing my positive vision for our future!”

About Marty Chitty:

Marty Chitty is a third-generation resident of Story County, Iowa, having grown up on farm
near Nevada, Iowa. Marty and his wife, Jenny, raised their children in his childhood home,
where they continue to reside today. In addition to his prior service as a member of the
Story County Board of Supervisors previously, Marty has also served on the Nevada School
Board for 17 years, including 13 years as School Board President. Marty’s nearly 25-year
career with FedEx provided him with the opportunity to extensively travel throughout Story
County getting to know the residents of Story County who, like he and his family, are proud
to call Story County their home.
